Located on Spuiplein in The Hague, the former Mercure hotel has been transformed into TRIBE The Hague Central: the second TRIBE hotel in the Netherlands and a new flagship for the international hotel brand. With 159 rooms, 3 suites, 9 meeting rooms, a restaurant, cocktail bar and 24-hour gym, the hotel offers a contemporary experience that reflects TRIBE’s ambitions.
TRIBE stands for design, comfort and a premium experience without unnecessary formality. The concept combines stylish interiors with an approachable atmosphere, catering to travellers who value quality, convenience and connection.
From Existing Hotel to New TRIBE Concept
As Genaral contractor, Bulsink was involved in the renovation of the existing hotel property. The assignment: to transform the building in phases to align with the TRIBE brand identity, while keeping the hotel open to guests throughout the works.
This approach required careful planning, clear communication and smart logistics. The renovation was carried out floor by floor, with a buffer level maintained between the construction zone and the floors occupied by guests. This allowed hotel operations to continue as smoothly as possible while the hotel’s new look was being created behind the scenes.
Renovation with Guest Experience in Mind
A hotel renovation is not only about construction; it is also about the experience of guests, employees and the operator. For that reason, significant attention was given to minimising disruption. Construction activities followed dedicated routes, works were carefully scheduled and the construction area was clearly separated from the rest of the hotel.
At the same time, the transformation was made visible. The partitioning within the hotel served not only as a practical separation but also as an introduction to the new TRIBE concept.
Collaboration as the Foundation
The renovation required close coordination between the property owner, operator, consultants and construction partner. By making clear decisions early in the process, planning, feasibility and hotel operations could be effectively aligned.
The result is a renewed hotel that reflects TRIBE’s international identity while making optimal use of the existing property.
