Story
Marcel van Oploo
He has only just started working at Bulsink, and in a completely new role. In this interview, Marcel van Oploo introduces himself and shares how he has experienced his first months as Business Development Manager
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
“My name is Marcel van Oploo. I recently turned fifty and I live in Rosmalen. Together with my girlfriend, her daughter, and my two teenage sons — need I say more — we make up a blended and lively family.”
“I’m very active: I’m passionate about fitness and running, and recently I’ve also caught the golf bug. In addition, I have a strong passion for everything related to food, drinks, and hospitality.”
“
“There’s a certain energy here. A form of hospitality that we describe as six-star plus.”
- Marcel van Oploo, Business Development Manager
Since you just started: are you settling in a bit already?
“I get that question almost daily from colleagues. It shows how involved everyone is and how seriously Bulsink approaches proper onboarding.”
“The recruitment agency that contacted me said, ‘You really should talk to Bulsink.’ The moment I walked in here for the first time, I immediately understood why.”
“There’s a certain energy here. A form of hospitality that we describe as six-star plus. On your very first day everything is ready for you to hit the ground running: a laptop, phone, a sheet with all your login details… and a bar of chocolate with a personal message waiting on your desk. From minute one, you feel welcome.”
“
“For me, the challenge lies not only in securing new projects, but above all in advising clients on smart, future-proof solutions.”
What does your role involve, and what do you enjoy most about your work?
“My role is new within Bulsink, which makes it even more exciting. As Business Development Manager, I mainly focus on the hotel and office market—an industry in which I have a strong network.”
“The challenge for me is not just bringing in new projects but, more importantly, advising clients on smart, future-proof solutions. I translate their ambitions into concrete plans, feasible budgets, and realistic schedules. Of course, I don’t do this alone. Close collaboration with our operations team, estimators, project managers—you name it—is essential. Only then can we deliver on our promises.”
“What I enjoy most? That I’m now involved from concept to completion. In my previous roles in project design, I often entered the process much later. Now, I get to contribute at a stage when everything is still open. That fits perfectly with my expertise and the way I like to work.”
CORE VALUES
Which of Bulsink’s B.U.I.L.D. core values fits you best, and why?
“Brand-conscious. When you see how Bulsink positions itself, it’s truly unique in our industry. We work for strong brands and we also attach great importance to our own branding. There are very few contractors who create such a distinctive brand experience.”
“Recently, we had a hotelier visiting who said, ‘I could have lunch here every day—this place feels that welcoming.’ That says it all. And I’m happy to contribute to that.”
