Story
Stan Hilberink
Our own staff are most likely the best people to tell you what it is like to work at Bulsink. Our employee stories offer an inside look at our company’s culture. Today, Project Manager Stan Hilberink takes the floor.
Can you introduce yourself?
“My name is Stan Hilberink. I am 34 years old, engaged to be married, and I live in Wijchen. If you ask my colleagues, I think they will describe me as a busy bee. I am a sporty guy who exercises five to six times a week. And yes, I am a busy bee.”
“In my work, I enjoy it when the pressure is on, but always with a smile. I have a lot of energy to give and if an employer knows how to make good use of that, which is the case at Bulsink, then I feel right at home. I have been working as a Project Manager for seven years now, the last three of which at Bulsink.”
“
My line of work demands that I’m on the road a lot. I work where the customer needs me.

How and why did you end up working at Bulsink?
“In 2017, Jessie, my current colleague, approached me via LinkedIn. A former colleague had already me tipped me off that Bulsink was a great company that is at the forefront of digitalisation in our field of work. At the time, however, I was still happy in another job, but feeling that I could still develop.”
“A year later, we got in touch again. When I had my second interview, the first question posed was: when can you start? Well, I’ve been here for three years now.”
What can you tell us about your work as a Project Manager?
“As a Project Manager, I take final responsibility for a project and I act as the first contact for customers, subcontractors and suppliers. Together with the Project Engineer, I ensure that everything around a project runs smoothly. That construction is progressing, that we meet our planning, that everything adds up financially and that we deliver quality work.”
“Good communications are an extremely important aspect of my work. I am in constantly in touch with customers and everyone on the construction site. I strongly believe in communicating instead of imposing. We are all in it together, so the team interest always comes first.”
“My line of work demands that I’m on the road a lot. I work where the customer takes me. In my case that is mainly the Netherlands, but it could also be France for example, where we are building gyms for Basic-Fit. I drive about fifty to sixty thousand kilometres a year. You could say my car is my office. So I keep my car very clean. (Laughing.)”

If you share your ideas with others and convince everyone that it is wise to work in a certain way, they will eventually go the extra mile for you.
The Bulsink organisation uses B.U.I.L.D. as its core values: Brand-conscious, Ultra-fast, Inspiring, Leading and Determined. Can you pick one or two of these core values and explain what they mean to you?
“Ultra-fast, for sure. We should always be able to do things faster than our competitors. That already starts with drawing up the planning. Before a project starts, we invite all parties involved to come to our headquarters. We exchange ideas, discuss drawings and commit to building processes. This is how we create one reality together, one single truth. If you share your ideas with others beforehand, and if you can convince everyone that it is wise to work in a certain way, they will eventually go the extra mile for you.”
“You cannot be fast without being determined. So, if I’d could highlight another core value, it would be Determined. Feeling responsible for your projects, realising that deadlines are deadlines, ‘going through fire and water’ for your customers, making sure you get it done, even if you have to sacrifice an occasional evening or weekend for that.”
